US offers D15M to help Gambia tackle Covid-19
On a press release, The United States committed to supporting The Gambia’s in their efforts to tackle COVID-19 and keep Gambians throughout the Smiling Coast safe, offers D15M.
This support builds on long term U.S. Government support, which totals approximately $3 million (GMD 150 Million) this year.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) committed $310,000 (GMD15.5 Million) to support the Gambia in its efforts to slow the COVID-19 escalation and promote citizen accountability in accomplishing the local feedback
These extra support will uplift public awareness and promote transparency around the COVID-19 feedback through television and radio broadcasts, a nationwide public awareness campaign on prevention, support to Follow the Money to track funds and program implementation in line with to COVID-19, and support to an online ‘fact-checking’ platform to counter misinformation about the pandemic.
The U.S. Government is also collaborating directly with communities to help in tackling the disease.
