The ministry of natural resources and climate change says it plans increasing the survival rate of trees being planted from the current 65 percent to 85 percent this tree planting season.
Minister responsible, Eisenhower Mkaka, has told reporters this morning in Lilongwe that the country targets to restore 29, 000 hectares of land by planting over 50 million trees this season.
He said president Lazarus Chakwera will officially launch this year’s tree planting season in Mangochi on 23rd of this month.
Last year the country planted 54 million trees from the targeted 40 million trees.
