Arsenal legend, Ian Wright calls out NFF to pay Nigeria women’s team match bonuses amid ongoing dispute after their World Cup victory against Australia
Earlier this month, the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation Dr Mohammed Sanusi told them their match bonuses £15,760 (AUS$30,000) for participation in the group stages of the tournament had been cancelled by the federation.
The team had even threatened to go on strike for the first match of the competition against Canada, who are also in the middle of a pay dispute with their own FA seeking equal pay and support with the men’s team.

UDP CHALLENGES APPOINTMENTS OF 6 PRESIDENTIAL ADVISERS AT SUPREME COURT

The opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) has filed a lawsuit at the Supreme Court challenging the legality of the appointments of 6 presidential advisers.

The suit, filed by the UDP and Ebrima Dibba yesterday, is seeking for the Supreme Court to declare that the appointments of presidential advisers; Dembo Bojang, Lamin Cham, Henry Gomez, Dodou Sanno, Sulayman Camara and Lamin K Saidy are unconstitutional.

Both Ebrima Dibba and the UDP believe these appointments contravene Section 170 of the Constitution.

In a similar move, Madi K Ceesay, National Assembly member for Serekunda West and the UDP have also filed a suit against the appointments of Fatoumatta Jahumpa-Ceesay, Sheikh Tijan Hydara, Ousman Jatta alias Rambo, and General Lamin Bojang into the Foreign Service.

“The United Democratic Party is a party that believes in the rule of law and will continue to defend and uphold the constitution of The Gambia,” the party said in a statement yesterday.

2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup: When is the game between Australia and Nigeria and how can I watch on TV?

Nigeria target their first victory of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup when they lock on with co-host Australia.

The Super Falcons began their campaign on an awe-inspiring note – holding Canada to a 0-0 draw in a thrilling fixture – with goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie saving a penalty.

Buoyed by that performance against the reigning Olympics queens, the Africans would be aiming to subdue Tony Gustavsson’s ladies.

The Matildas would rue several missed scoring chances against Ireland in their opening Group B fixture, nonetheless, would be pleased with their slim 1-0 result over the debutants.

Australia have only played Nigeria once in the history of this tournament. In that fixture at the 2015 edition, they triumphed 2-0 courtesy of Kyah’s Simon double.

WHEN IS THE GAME

The match between Australia and Nigeria is scheduled for 11:00 (West African Time) on Thursday, July 27.

FIFA Women's World Cup: Super Falcons, Australia Clash Assumes Huge Importance - Moneycentral

Super Falcons plot Australia's fall after draw with Canada — Sport — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will aim to make it to make to the knockout stages of this year’s edition of the Women’s World Cup for the third time in their history of the showpiece

Australia defender Charli Grant says she is expecting the Super Falcons of Nigeria to be more attacking-minded when both countries clash on Thursday in their second game of the ongoing Women’s World Cup,

The Matildas picked up a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney on Thursday.

The Irish defensive approach in the contest made it difficult for the Aussies to play their free-flow attacking style, resulting in them claiming a slim advantage over the European debutants.

However, Grant predicts the Falcons to embark on a different approach and be more attacking-minded than the Irish.

The two countries will see the encounter as a winnable fixture, as a victory for either side will be a big step toward securing a place in the next round of the showpiece.

Australia lead the group with three points after their victory over Ireland, while Canada and Nigeria are locked on one point, and Ireland remain at zero point.
