1998 Sept 4 Google is founded

The internet company, now synonymous with the act of finding information on the world wide web was created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. It started as a research project when Page and Brin were doctoral students at Stanford University.

1988 Abdul Mohmand becomes the first person from Afghanistan to Visit Space

Mohmand, an Afghan Air Force pilot was a crew member of the Soyuz TM-6, a Soviet spacecraft. He was in space for 9 days, which were spent at the Mir Space Station.

1981 – Zimbabwe Achieves Full Independence: On August 25, 1981, Zimbabwe formally recognized its independence from British colonial rule. The country had previously been known as Southern Rhodesia and was under British control until it became Zimbabwe. This day is celebrated as Independence Day in Zimbabwe.

1960 Senegal withdraws from the Mali Federation

Senegal withdrew from the Mali Federation, a year after its establishment. Léopold Senghor became the first president of Senegal a month later.

He was the first Black person to attend the school. After being barred on several occasions because of his race, Meredith was formally admitted into the university in October 1962 as transfer student from Jackson State College (presently Jackson State University), an HBCU.
However, his entrance was met with intense rioting on the college campus, and two people died in the clashes. U.S. Marshalls were deployed to the school to keep the peace. Despite facing adversity, Meredith continued on with his studies, graduating with a degree in political science.
